Baseball Season Preview
Baseball is back on the schedule for Los Angeles Mission College starting this week.
The athletes have been training hard throughout the Fall to prepare this season in hopes having of winning year and making it back into the playoff after a tough 2016 season.
Last year the Eagles struggled to find defensive consistency and had trouble with some injuries which landed them in a 4th place finish in conference.
L.A. Mission has had a history of success within the program though finishing 2nd in conference during 2015 and taking 1st in conference in 2014.
One big improvement to the dynamic of the team this year is more guys stepping into leadership positions.
Last season there weren't a large number of returning sophomores to help fill those roles, but now that many of those freshmen are game tested and ready this year, things are looking up.
This season the format for the conference has changed as well, downsizing to just five teams, LA Mission College, Bakersfield College, LA Valley College, and LA Pierce College.
This presents a new challenge as the Eagles will see each of these teams on five occasions throughout the regular season.
"It's tough to beat any team five times", says head coach Joe Cascione.
He adds, "we're just want to try to focus on each game individually and stay humble. We don't want to hang our heads on a loss but also not ride too high after a win".
The Eagles first home game will be this Saturday January 28 at 1 p.m. against San Bernardino College so come out and show your support!
