Baseball Defeats Pierce

The Eagles won their third consecutive game on Saturday beating the LA Pierce College Brahma's 7-4.

Visiting Pierce opened up scoring early in the first inning when Mike Scolaro got home from third off of a single from Brandon Lewis.

Two batters later Eric Medellin hit a single that ran in Alexis Miranda making the score 0-2.

At the bottom of the first Josh Carlin scored for Mission when Cade Spurlin singled down center field.

In the Bottom of the second Pierce Pitcher Chris Kovach walked three Eagles batters to load the bases with only one out.

Peter Abinati then hit a low flat single down center field to bring home Ryan Galan and Sam Gray giving Mission the lead at 4-3.

In the top of the fourth Miranda singled bringing in Will Picketts and Nick Pico for the Brahma’s with two outs.

Jesse Galindo came in to relieve Ben Kasser and pitched a strikeout to finish the inning 3-4.

At the bottom of the fourth inning Robert Reeves was first up to bat for the Eagles and hit a homerun to right field to tie the game.

Before the end of the fourth Gray would score once more off of another single from Abinati giving Mission the lead at 5-4.

In the bottom of the seventh Gray singled allowing Reeves and Tyler Grissom to score the last two points of the game.

With this win LA Mission currently leads the Western State-South conference with a 3-1 record and an overall record of 13-4.

Their next match will be a non conference game played at Citrus College at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday March 7.
