Softball finishes the week with a 12-4 mercy win (5 innings) over L.A. Valley College, Thursday.
Starting pitcher, Naomi Benevidez (2-0), allowed four runs off six hits. Carmen Vargas came in as relief in the bottom of the fifth, shutting down the Monarchs to solidify the victory.
The Eagles score their twelve runs off eleven hits. Andrea Contreras, Saraina Cruz, Mia Lopez, and Delilah Gomez each having multiple hit efforts.
Setting the tone early, Eagles score six runs in the top of the second. Mia Lopez adds to the damage by hitting a massive three run homerun to start the third inning. The offense was impressive, twelve runs being more than enough to get the win.
Mission softball, now 3-1 in conference, continues next Tuesday in a doubleheader against Antelope Valley College (4-0) at 1 & 3 p.m.
