Bio

Daniel Tustin is excited to join LA Mission College as the head coach for cross country in 2026. He comes to LAMC with with eight years of experience at the 3C2A, NCAA, NAIA, and high school levels.

As an assistant coach at Moorpark College (2018-2025), Coach Dan recruited and helped guide cross country teams that won their first WSC Championships in over 20 years (women- 2025; men- 2021, 2022, 2025). The teams also achieved multiple top 10 State meet finishes (women-, men-), and included two individual State Champions (Sophia Cortina, Maya Natarajan) and two individual State Runner Ups (Sammy Barajas, Tommy White).  

As a head coach for cross country at Moorpark High School, he led the boy’s team to its first league championship in nearly 10 years (2023) and it’s highest CIF SS finish in school history (2nd- 2022). He guided Thomas White, Hunter Lee, and David Raigoza to a 1st-3rd sweep at CCL Finals in 2023 and was named Ventura County Boys Head Coach of the year in 2022.

While head coach for cross country & track & field at the University of Antelope Valley, he guided Santiago Hardy to an 8th place individual finish at NAIA Cross Country Nationals (2022). His team consisted almost entirely of community college transfers and included three All-Academic team selections. 

Coach Dan has also enjoyed extensive success as a track & field coach. His athletes have included Jasmyne Holliday, Gracie Gervacio, Mikey Holland, Caitlyn Dougherty, Ava Ball, Davis Benson, and Tori Plummer. He prides his ability to help student-athletes of all experience levels succeed within nearly any event area of the sport.

He holds Masters degrees in Exercise Science and Business Administration and is currently working on a PhD in Kinesiology. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA) and holds two USA Track & Field Level II Certifications (Endurance, Jumps) and one Level III Certification (Sprints/Hurdles/Relays).

Most importantly, Coach Dan welcomes any student-athlete to LAMC with the desire to better themselves academically, athletically, and personally. His goal is to help all LAMC students realize expanded opportunities through transfer, graduation, and career development.
