Amanda Abesamis 9-2015

Female Athlete of the Month

This month’s female athlete of the month is women’s volleyball outside hitter Amanda Abesamis. 

Abesamis is currently playing in her sophomore year but this is her first season with the Eagles after transferring from College of the Canyons.

During her time at COC in Santa Clarita she helped their volleyball team to a conference title in 2013.

After taking a year off she missed being a part of the game and was recruited by coach Barraza to play for Mission.

Abesamis says one of her favorite parts of the sport is the team aspect and the feeling she gets working with her teammate’s everyday toward a common goal.  

She also says more than just trying to bring physicality to the front row she wants to bring a positive and helpful attitude in order to help her team stay focused and energized.

In high school Abesamis earned all-city honors and won an LA city section championship her junior year at Granada Hills Charter High School.
