Los Angeles Mission College came up with a big win against Santa Monica College on Tuesday afternoon.
This was essentially a must win game the Eagles in order to keep their goal of making playoffs in sight.
The games between the Eagles and SMC have been known to get a little personal and this recent match was no exception.
Mission controlled most of the first half taking two competitive shots on goal.
The first hit the left side post and the second sailed just over the crossbar.
Finally just before the end of the half Carlos Solorio showed off some technical footwork getting around several defenders before scoring in the bottom right of the goal.
In the second half tensions rose as play got more aggressive and the officials had to come between players a handful of times.
Santa Monica put more significant pressure on the Eagle's goal but were unable to find an equalizer.
The Eagles would score a second goal before the end of the game thanks to Carlos Gonzalez.
Gonzalez was on a breakaway when he executed an impressive spin maneuver around the challenging defender and then fired the ball into the ball into the back of the net.
That would be the final goal ending the match 2-0.
LA Mission will play its next game and final match of conference at Allan Hancock College on Friday at 3 p.m.
