This Friday Los Angeles Mission College is traveling to Long Beach City College hoping to gain some momentum for the rest of the season.
Last week the Eagles suffered a loss to Taft College as the result of frustration and pair of cards.
They were down at half time and then gave up a goal on a penalty kick which was awarded to Taft College in the 75 minute as the product of a yellow card in the penalty area.
One of the Eagles was also ejected from the field due to a red card during the 72 minute of the game.
The Eagles have shown they are physically capable of competing against top teams when they defeated Rio Hondo College who’s only loss is to the Eagles this season.
The coaching staff at L.A. Mission believes that if the players can overcome the mental fatigue they still have a very good chance of making into the post season.
After a long tournament where the Eagles didn’t finish as well as they wanted to, that mentality may have carried over in the game against Taft College but they are ready to recover and show everyone what they can do.
Currently the men’s soccer team has a record of 2-2-2 but if they can finish with 12 or more wins over the next 15 games they stand a good chance of competing in playoffs.
The next game against LBCC is their chance to start fresh again.
The coaches say that the men are ready to come out and play at a high level and regain their energy for the rest of the season.
Their match against the Long Beach Vikings will take place in Long Beach at 6 p.m. Friday September 16.
