The Men’s soccer team hopes to have a strong showing in conference to get them into playoffs.
The Eagles had been struggling to score through most of the preseason but finally struck gold and defeated Santiago Canyon College 2-1.
The team was suffering from mental slump; they were overthinking things and taking just one or two extra unnecessary moves that stopped them from winning.
They have been playing very strong opponents as a way to prepare themselves for the post season so it’s no big surprise that it has been a struggle.
With this recent victory though the coaches hope that the floodgates will open for the Eagles and build up momentum going into the conference.
“If we win conference, we are guaranteed to go to playoffs”, says head coach Julio Castillo.
“I’ve seen situations like this before, where a team has a tough couple of games and then manages to completely turn things around and be successful”, added Castillo.
The Coaching staff strongly believes that the athletes are more than capable of beating any opponent as long as they can get in an offensive rhythm.
The Eagles play Oxnard College at home on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The following match will be at home against Moorpark College Friday October 14 at 2 p.m.
