LA Mission Rolls Past Golden West with 6–1 Statement Win
SYLMAR, Calif. — The LA Mission College men’s soccer team delivered a dominant performance under the lights at Eagles Nest Stadium on Friday night, overwhelming Golden West College with a 6–1 victory. Fueled by a relentless attacking effort and standout performances from Sebastian Montalvan, Christ Ramirez, and Humberto Duarte — each scoring two goals — the Eagles stayed undefeated and continued to build momentum early in the season.
First-Half Blitz Sets the Tone
The match started with immediate pressure from LA Mission, and it didn't take long for the scoreboard to reflect it. Sebastian Montalvan opened the scoring just 8 minutes in, finishing off a setup from Julian Garcia Reynoso. Montalvan struck again in the 20th minute — this time unassisted — to double the lead and stun Golden West's backline.
As the half progressed, the Eagles continued their clinical execution. Humberto Duarte scored his first goal of the season in the 35th minute, assisted by Diego Ceja, before Christ Ramirez closed out the first half with a powerful unassisted goal in the 43rd, giving LA Mission a 4–0 advantage at the break.
Second Half, Same Story
Despite Golden West's efforts to regroup, the second half continued much like the first. Ramirez notched his second goal of the match in the 58th minute off assists from Duarte and Bryan Guerrero, showing off LA Mission's fluid combination play.
Duarte then returned to the scoresheet himself in the 67th minute, this time assisted by Gabriel Franco and Ramirez, completing his brace and capping off a stellar all-around performance.
Golden West finally found a response just moments later, with Rodrigo Estrada scoring their lone goal in the 67th minute off a setup from Juan Bonilla. But by then, the damage had been done.
