Softball Season Preview
Softball Begins the 2017 season this week with their new head coach, Chris Hylland.
Coach Hylland’s first experience with softball began when he was just 16 years old coaching his younger sister, but he says from that moment on it became his passion.
Since then he has gained a great deal of knowledge coaching travel teams as well as high school programs.
This is his first time as the head coach of a college program but says he is excited and feels fortunate to have this opportunity with this team.
Since coming on the scene this last October Hylland has been working on building a solid team around just three sophomores returning from 2016.
The Eagles have also acquired a strong freshmen class which has made the transition to a new coach more seamless.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better group”, he says.
The whole team has done a greatjob buying into the Eagles system of Softball and their goal like any other season is to make a playoff appearance and go on from there.
LA Mission is part of an 8 team conference where the top four teams go on to the postseason, so it seems like a realistic achievement for the young squad.
Hylland says they expect to do well offensively and spectators will have a good time watching this team hit.
The Eagles first home match will take place next Wednesday, February 1 at 2 p.m. against Los Angeles Harbor College.
