Eagles Fall to Saddleback in SoCal Regional Opening Round
The Los Angeles Mission College women’s basketball team closed out its 2025–26 season with a postseason appearance, falling to No. 9 Saddleback in the opening round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.
The Los Angeles Mission College women's basketball team concluded the 2025–26 season with a 15-14 overall record and a 6-6 conference mark, earning a berth in the Southern California Regional playoffs in the second year of the program under first-year head coach Vicky Oganyan. Entering the postseason as the No. 24 seed, the Eagles were without leading scorer Heart Lising due to injury suffered in the final conference game at Moorpark, and fell to No. 9 Saddleback, 71-46, in the opening round.
Mission trailed 34-27 at halftime after opening the game down 16-11 in the first quarter and keeping pace with a 16-18 second quarter. Saddleback used a decisive third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 24-8, to extend the lead and take control of the game. There were no overtime periods.
Nat Gaspar led the Eagles with 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting, adding five rebounds and two assists. Nayeli Rodriguez provided a spark off the bench with 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while Crystal Pasaye contributed 10 points, including one three-pointer. The Eagles finished the game shooting 28.6 percent (18-63) from the field and 11.8 percent (2-17) from three-point range, while converting 8-of-18 free throws.
Defensively, Ashley Martin led Mission on the glass with 13 rebounds, including three offensive boards, to go along with five points and two assists. Victoria Eufracio added five rebounds, one block, and one steal, while the Eagles totaled 36 rebounds, four steals, and one block as a team. Mission recorded seven assists and 11 turnovers in the contest.
Saddleback held advantages in rebounding (57-36) and assists (17-7), and placed five players in double figures. Despite the result, the Eagles' postseason appearance marked a return to the playoffs and capped a season of progress for the program.
