Eagles Fall to Moorpark, 58-40, on the Road
The Los Angeles Mission College women’s basketball team dropped a 58-40 decision to Moorpark College on February 20, falling to 15-13 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
The Eagles trailed 31-19 at halftime after opening with an 11-16 first quarter and an 8-15 second quarter. Moorpark extended its lead in the third quarter, outscoring Mission 21-11 to create separation before the Eagles held the Raiders to just six points in the fourth quarter. There were no overtime periods.
Heart Lising led the Eagles with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting, adding five rebounds, one assist, and one steal before exiting the game in the third quarter due to injury. Nayeli Rodriguez provided 10 points off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting along with four rebounds, while Ashley Martin contributed seven rebounds, one block, and four points. Mission finished the game shooting 26.7 percent (16-60) from the field and 10.5 percent (2-19) from three-point range, while converting 6-of-10 free throws.
Defensively, the Eagles totaled 37 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, along with three steals and three blocks. Victoria Eufracio, Ashley Martin, and Song Jackson each recorded a block, while the team forced 12 Moorpark turnovers. Mission recorded three assists and committed 10 turnovers in the contest.
Moorpark shot 44.1 percent (26-59) from the field and held a 46-37 rebounding advantage, with four players scoring in double figures.
