Sylmar, CA – The LA Mission College women’s tennis team continued its impressive conference run with a 7-2 victory over College of the Canyons on Tuesday, showcasing strong singles play and a crucial doubles win to seal the match.
Doubles Action Sets the Stage
The match began with competitive doubles play, where Jaelyn Rivera and Genesis Nochez set the tone at No. 1 doubles, earning a commanding 8-6 victory over B. Renfro and F. Spadoni from COC.
The No. 2 doubles match was a close battle, with Kirsten Bonzon and Josilyn Rivera falling in a tight 9-7 match to L. Figalan and T. Admiraal.
The deciding No. 3 doubles match was an intense back-and-forth contest, but Alitzel Ortega Partida and Caitlin Nycum pulled through with a 9-7 tiebreak win over B. Solomon and I. Leifheit, giving LA Mission the 2-1 edge heading into singles.

The only singles loss for LA Mission came at No. 4 singles, where Kirsten Bonzon fell to I. Leifheit, 6-2, 6-1.
