Volleyball Falls to Bakersfield in Conference Opener
Friday the 13th proved unlucky for LA Mission Women’s Volleyball in their Western State Conference opening match, which they lost in 3 sets to Bakersfield.
Though Mission put up a tremendous effort, The Renegades’ offense was too strong to allow them to gain any momentum or close the gap in the score at any point, resulting in 14-25, 12-25, and 18-25 losses.
The Eagles were the recipients of a 5th consecutive sweep for the Renegades, who are currently ranked 4th in the state and 2nd in the conference.
Among Mission’s top performers was freshman setter Naomi Campos, who turned in 18 aces on the night. Sophomore libero Samantha Sullivan added 3 service aces to keep her ranked 2nd in the state, and sophomore Rachelle Zelada earned 4 kills on 18 total attacks from the right side.
Mission Volleyball hits the court again Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at College of the Canyons.
