The Los Angeles Mission College men’s soccer team picked up its second straight win to open the season, shutting out Taft College 2–0 at El Cariso Park. Behind a strong defensive performance and timely goals from Sebastian Montalvan and Miguel Aguirre, the Eagles moved to 2–0–0 on the year.

The Los Angeles Mission College men's soccer team picked up its second straight win to open the season, shutting out Taft College 2–0 at El Cariso Park. Behind a strong defensive performance and timely goals from Sebastian Montalvan and Miguel Aguirre, the Eagles moved to 2–0–0 on the year.
First-Half Breakthrough
Mission controlled possession from the opening whistle, generating several chances in the attacking third. The breakthrough came in the 19th minute when forward Sebastian Montalvan finished a cross from Cristopher Martinez Recinos, putting the Eagles ahead 1–0.
Despite consistent pressure, Mission was denied by Taft goalkeeper Rommel Tarin, who made four first-half saves to keep the visitors within striking distance.
Second-Half Control
Mission continued to dictate the pace after the break, outshooting Taft 12–3 in the second half. The insurance goal came in the 74th minute, when defender Miguel Aguirre scored his second goal of the season, assisted by Cristopher Romero, to make it 2–0.
Goalkeeper Josue Orona had a quiet evening but came up with one key save to preserve the clean sheet.
